Department of Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology

The Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology is dedicated to safeguarding animal and human health through integrated approaches in disease surveillance, food safety, and zoonosis control. The main objective of the department is to train students in public health principles, epidemiological methods, and preventive strategies essential for controlling zoonotic and food-borne diseases. The department undertakes teaching, research, and extension activities focusing on epidemiology, food hygiene, environmental health, and One Health concepts. Research projects emphasize disease outbreak investigation, antimicrobial resistance monitoring, and risk assessment studies. The department also organizes training and awareness programs for veterinarians, farmers, and stakeholders to promote hygienic food production and public health practices for ensuring community well-being.
