The Department of Veterinary Pathology plays a pivotal role in imparting quality education, conducting advanced research, and providing diagnostic and extension services related to animal diseases. The department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern Postmortem Hall, advanced Histopathology and Clinical Pathology Laboratories, a Digital Microscopy Unit, a Gross Pathology Museum, and a Molecular Diagnostic (PCR) Laboratory for disease diagnosis and research. The major objectives of the department are to train undergraduate and postgraduate students in systematic disease diagnosis through gross, histopathological, and molecular approaches; to conduct research on infectious, non-infectious, and immune-mediated diseases of livestock, poultry, and companion animals; and to extend diagnostic and consultancy services to the field veterinarians and livestock farmers. The department has successfully completed several intra- and extra-mural research projects and published a number of scientific papers in reputed national and international journals. It also actively participates in extension and farmer awareness programs, contributing to disease surveillance, prevention, and control through laboratory-based diagnostics, training, and field-oriented services.
