The Department of Livestock Products Technology is dedicated to the scientific processing, preservation, and value addition of foods of animal origin including meat, milk, and eggs. The main objective of the department is to impart comprehensive teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of meat science, dairy technology, and by-product utilization. The department undertakes research on quality improvement, product development, shelf-life enhancement, and food safety aspects of livestock products. Extension and training activities focus on skill development, entrepreneurship promotion, and dissemination of hygienic processing and preservation technologies to farmers, butchers, and small-scale entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to the growth of the livestock-based food industry and public health assurance.
The main objective of department is disseminating knowledge about hygienic milk production, utilization of milk by-products, preparation of value added indigenous as well as western milk products, hygienic slaughter, dressing of food animals, preparation of value added meat products, utilization of slaughterhouse by–products to undergraduate students of B. V. Sc and A.H. and M.V.Sc.
