The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding is dedicated to the scientific study and improvement of livestock through genetic principles and breeding strategies to enhance their productivity, adaptability, and disease resistance. The department focuses on teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students the fundamentals and advanced concepts of animal genetics, population genetics, molecular genetics, and breeding techniques. It actively conducts research on genetic evaluation, selection, conservation, and improvement of indigenous livestock breeds. In addition, the department undertakes various extension and training programs to disseminate scientific breeding knowledge and modern reproductive technologies to farmers, field veterinarians, and livestock entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to sustainable livestock development.
