The Department of Veterinary Parasitology was established since inception of the college in the year 1958 with the aim to impart undergraduate education. Initially only under graduate teaching was under taken. The postgraduate program in Veterinary Parasitology was incepted from 1995 and subsequently in Animal Biotechnology from 2007. The Ph. D program in Veterinary Parasitology was started from 2013. Currently the department offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral degree programs. The curriculum prepares students to meet their goals, which include professional careers in academic, clinical and technical field of Veterinary Parasitology. So far 42 students have completed PG programs in Veterinary Parasitology. Three students have completed their Ph.D. program in Veterinary Parasitology. The department undertakes time-bound research projects, in addition to the teaching and diagnostic services being provided for diagnosis of parasitic diseases of livestock and poultry.

Diagnostic services offered by the department: The department offers the diagnostic services of faecal sample examination for diagnosis of helminth parasitic infection and enteric protozoa, skin scrapping examination for diagnosis of ectoparasitic infestation and blood smear examination for diagnosis of Haemoprotozoan infection in livestock and poultry.
