The Department of Livestock Production and Management which was previously known as Department of Animal Husbandry, is established since inception of Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur as a core department of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry with the broad objectives of teaching, research and extension of the knowledge on rearing, care & Management of various species of livestock for the benefit of the farmers and rural youth. At present, the department offers, as per VCI syllabus, courses to undergraduate (B. V. Sc, & A.H. Degree Course) students. The post graduate degree programme (M. V. Sc.) in the discipline of Livestock Production and Management has been started in the department from the year 2002-2003, Up to current academic year 2024-25 twenty three students have completed M. V. Sc. degree and four students are under going MVSC and one Doctoral stuendt programme. This department has also been engaged in research on different specialized livestock farming systems, management techniques, stress management, health management, nutritional management and economical eco-friendly utilization and disposal of farm waste etc. Ph. D. degree programme in Livestock Production and Management by research work and by course work was started in the year 2002 and 2018, respectively

Laboratory Facilities in the Department: The department has well equipped laboratory with Blowups charts Different breed models, AV teaching facility and seating arrangement for more than 30 students. The practals are also conducted on farm spread across 12hectors

Diagnostic services offered by the department: Project Proposals for farmers and entrepreneurs are made
