The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a central sector public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It was launched in 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, with the objective of developing the personality and character of students through voluntary community service.

Key Objectives of NSS:
  • To instill a sense of social responsibility among youth.

  • To encourage students to participate in nation-building activities.

  • To develop leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills through community engagement.

  • To promote national integration and communal harmony.

Motto:

The motto of NSS is “Not Me, But You”, reflecting the spirit of selfless service and concern for others.

Activities:

NSS volunteers engage in a variety of activities including:

  • Blood donation camps

  • Tree plantation and environment awareness

  • Health and hygiene awareness programs

  • Literacy and education campaigns

  • Disaster relief efforts

  • Rural development and sanitation drives

  • Animal Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Camps
  • Creating awareness regarding animal husbandry practices among farmers and rural youth.
  • Vaccination camps for various diseases of livestock
  • Deworming and Acaricide Spraying in Animal Houses Campaigns
  • Promotion of activities related to organic and natural farming and water conservation.
  • Demonstration regarding clean milk production and preparation of milk products at home level.
  • Demonstration such as Silage Preparation and storage and management animal feed/fodder during draught period.
  • Digital literacy campaigns.
Enrollment:

Students from college can voluntarily enroll in NSS. The program is coordinated by university & college and offers a certificate of completion, which adds value to a student’s career profile.

NSS plays a pivotal role in shaping responsible and socially aware citizens of India.

1) Celebration of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Mahotsav-2025

The various activities organized during Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Mahotsav-2025 at COVAS, Udgir includes Quiz, Debate, Speech, Essay Writing, Sports Competition and Poster Presentation etc. The important glimpses of event are as follows.

A) Padyatra and Pledge or Preamble Reading on the Occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Mahotsav 2025 at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Udgir, Latur, MS (Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur).
