About College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Udgir

COLLEGE OF VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES, UDGIR (COVAS, Udgir) was established in the year 1987 vide Maharshtra State Government Resolution No. MKV-1086/CR-128-A dated 17th September, 1987.

The Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) was formally notified on 17th November, 2000 and was established under the Maharashtra State Act No. 1998 (MAH.XVII of 1998) on 3rd December, 2000 with its headquarter at Nagpur. After the establishment of Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU), Nagpur, the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Udgir was transferred to MAFSU, Nagpur as a constituent college.

Over the years, the college has developed its infrastructure, with three phase building, state of art well-equipped laboratories, veterinary clinical complex, animal disease diagnosis facilities, poultry units and livestock farm for undergraduate (B.V.Sc&A.H.) and postgraduate (M.V.Sc & Ph.D) teaching as well as for research. The campus also has various student centric amenities such as hostels, gymnasium, NSS unit, library, canteen, internet, sports ground and computer labs. The campus is located about 3.5 kms away from the udgir city, but well connected by road and railway. The college campus is further enriched by establishment of UNIVERSITY SUB-CENTRE mainly for the research and extension activities related local and regional breeds.
